St. Paul Fire Department responded to two structure fires in as many days over the weekend.

Fire #1

First fire was called in at 4:30 AM on Saturday August 17, 2019. The fire occurred on the 4700 Block of 46 Avenue when a passerby called in a house on fire. It appears the fire started on the outside porch and quickly spread to the front of the house.

The occupants of the house were quickly alerted to the fire and all managed to escape without major harm. Homeowner used a fire extinguisher to keep the fire from spreading until fire crews arrived.

There is substantial damage to the outside front of the house. This fire remains under investigation, and any information could be forwarded to the local RCMP Detachment.

Fire #2

The Fire Department was called to a second structure fire on Sunday August 19, 2019 at 7:53 PM, approximately 5km. east of St. Paul on Highway 29.

It appears an individual tried removing a bee’s nest with an open flame under a mobile home trailer when the fire quickly spread. The mobile home trailer was not occupied at the time and was being used for storage only.

The fire totally consumed both the contents and trailer. A tanker truck from Elk Point Fire was also dispatched to assist, and crews had the fire extinguished within an hour.
