Open Farm Days is excited to announce there will be 16 Lakeland area farms participating in the annual event.

The farm/food connection – that is what Alberta Open Farm Days is all about and this year many new hosts are taking up the opportunity to invite you to visit Aug. 17 and 18th.

This event sees farmers and ranchers invite their urban and rural neighbors to stop in for a visit to share stories, see demonstrations, and learn more about growing and producing the foods we eat.  As well, some of Alberta’s restaurants and breweries are joining in the fun.

Farm Days Hosts are in and around Smoky Lake, Lac La Biche, St. Paul and Bonnyville.  Each with their own tour, demonstrations or something special to taste.

There are 16 hosts across Northeast Alberta preparing for visitors.  A complete list can be found at https://albertafarmdays.ca or the Alberta Open Farm Days Facebook page.  Maps are available and you can modify to design your own road trip.

There are various  ways to enjoy the day – self driving where you pick and choose what/where you want to visit or the St. Paul AG Society has coordinated a bus tour that will stop at 8 stops and include lunch, supper and snacks from local businesses.

Participants this year include:

  • Smoky Lake – Smoky Lake Farmers Market, Serben Farms, Linda’s Garden Market.
  • St. Paul – AG Society (Bus Tour), Al’s Carrots, Majek Meats, Twisted Fork Restaurant, God’s Simple Prairie Farm, K Cow Ranch, Portage College, Lakeland Brewery, St Paul Museum,
