BRFA welcomes a new truck to their fleet

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Department (BRFA) will be heading out on calls in a new pumper truck. The Municipal District of Bonnyville presented the Bonnyville Fire Department with their new Firefighting apparatus Pumper 54.

This unit is a special delivery as it has been dedicated to their former Regional Deputy Chief Edward Primeau who passed away last year from cancer.

Regional Fire Chief, Jay Melvin said it only made sense to dedicate the truck to Primeau, “he was an integral part of the community and the fire department. It only seemed right to honour him.”

Melvin replaced Primeau a few years ago when he joined the force, so honouring the man was something important to him.

Edward’s wife, Yvonne Primeau was present during the reveal along with members of the Bonnyville Fire Department who were very appreciative of this dedication.

This is the first truck to be replaced since Primeau’s passing, Melvin said the BRFA wanted to do something special. The department had blue and pink ribbons decaled on the truck. The pink to represent breast cancer and the blue to represent prostate cancer.

The MD of Bonnyville purchased six fire trucks for the regional force. Along with Bonnyville, there is a new pumper in Ardmore, Fort Kent, Cold Lake North, and Glendon. In LaCorey there is a new tanker.

The new pumper came with a price tag of approximately $450,000.
