On July, 3, 2019, Cold Lake General Investigation Unit (GIS) and Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) executed a search warrant in relation to a firearms investigation at a rural property in Cold Lake.

During execution of the search warrant police seized ammunition and gun parts. Further investigation with the assistance of the of RCMP Auto Theft Unit during the execution of a second warrant lead to the recovery of stolen items including: two ATV’s, truck, bicycle, industrial safe, welder, air compressor and numerous tools. The amount of the recovered items was approximately $25,000.

Jason Nunweiler (44) of Cold Lake has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5000 (x5)
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000 (x3)
  • Failure to comply
  • Failing to report lost firearm (x2)

He was released after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Cold Lake Provincial Court on July 24, 2019.
