Lacrosse provincials get Heated!
The Lakeland Heat makes this year’s provincials, after winning the first two games of a best of three playoff series against the Parkland Posse.
“The hardest part is keeping the players focused and working hard in practice, and we can’t take anything for granted. As you can see from yesterday it was a pretty tight game and it can go either way,” commented head coach Denis Hodinsky.
The Lakeland Heat played their playoff games against the Parkland Posse, this weekend.
Game 1 Saturday
An essential first game for both teams on Friday, as both teams were looking to win the first best of three games.
In the first period, the Posse took the lead finishing with a score 2-1 for the Posse.
“We knew they would come out flying and we wanted to kind of weather that storm. I think we did an alright job we just have to stop taking those penalties” said Mitchell Bibeau.
Penalties remained an issue for the Heat as they still trailed one goal behind the visiting team, in the second period with a score of 4-3 for the Posse.
The Heat turned everything around in the third period, with a three uncontested goal streak. Taking the first win with a score 6-4 for the Heat.
“It was a well-fought battle between two good teams, and we expected a good game and it was,” said Head Coach Dennis Hodinsky.
Game 2 Sunday
The Heat kept the momentum going into game two of the series the following day.
Unlike the night previous, the Heat kept a lead for the entire 60 minutes of play. Capturing a huge win over the Posse, 10-4.
