Elk Point RCMP charged a 29-year-old man wanted on outstanding warrants after he was seen driving a stolen vehicle in Frog Lake.

Police responded on June 16 and located the vehicle after a complaint of erratic driving.

RCMP members attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle did not stop when emergency lights were activated and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was quickly stopped due to safety concerns in the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement.

The vehicle was later located abandoned and confirmed to have been stolen from Bonnyville.

Elk Point RCMP along with Cold Lake Police Dog Services was able to track and arrest the driver of the vehicle.

Matthew Lajimodiere was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Lajimodiere was also wanted on three warrants out of Elk Point for 14 Criminal Code charges.

He has been remanded until his court date on June 27 in St. Paul Provincial Court.
