Bonnyville RCMP has charged a 24-year-old Wabasca man with three counts of arson.
On June 3rd at approximately 8:30 PM, the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority was called to a fire on a wooded property on the west side of Muriel Lake approximately eight miles south of Bonnyville.
With assistance from neighbouring fire departments, the fire was extinguished without any injury to life or damage to structural properties.
The RCMP Forestry Crime Unit and Alberta Forestry Investigators attended to assist with the investigation and determined that there were three separate ignition points that caused the blaze.
The RCMP have charged 24-year-old Harvey Auger of Wabasca with three counts of arson, one count of possession of an incendiary material and fail to appear.
He is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on July 16th and currently has a warrant out for his arrest for failing to attend the RCMP Detachment as per the Identification of Criminals Act.
