Cold Lake RCMP find handmade gun in stolen vehicle

On June 2, 2019, Cold Lake RCMP officers were engaged in a pro-active foot patrol when officers came across a black two door automobile with its rear window smashed out. The barrel of a handgun was observed on the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle and was seized as evidence.

Police checks revealed that the vehicle had been previously reported as stolen out of the Cold Lake area.

A passport was located in the front seat of the vehicle with two large knives were found in the back seat. A male who had been spotted near the vehicle earlier, matched the passport that was located and was arrested a short distance away attempting to flee the area.

23-year-old Colton James Pelechosky of Cold Lake has been charged with several weapons offences, as well as other related charges, and is to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 12, 2019 at 10:00 am.

Cold Lake RCMP wants to ensure the public knows we are committed to community safety and take every effort to remove dangerous weapons from our streets.
