The Jacknife logo has become a staple in the Lakeland region with their large fleet of fluid hauling trucks as a frequent sight on the area’s highways.

From their 22 years experience hauling in the region, Jacknife expanded in 2016 to offer full mechanical services; Jacknife Mechanical Repair, a division of Jacknife Oilfield Services.

General Manager of Jacknife, Kurt Muller, says the addition of full mechanical services was driven by the industry need.

“We were already servicing our own fleet. We saw the need for cost-effective mechanical services in Bonnyville.”

The company handles all aspects of mechanical repair, including, heavy duty, automotive, service trucks, tires, CVIPs, diesel performance, and fleet maintenance services for those with more than one unit that require regular maintenance. They like to think of themselves a “one-stop-shop”.

Kurt and his wife Rose are the second generation of Jacknife. The company was founded in Elizabeth Metis’ Settlement in 1997 by Rose’s parents, Mike and Tracy Jacknife. Being a family run business has resonated to their customer service, where everyone is treated like “one big family,” said Muller. The company now employs over 80 people, across the Fluid Hauling and Mechanical Repair divisions.

With their new building, located in the Gateway Industrial Park in Bonnyville, Jacknife is even better equipped to service your needs. The building features six large heavy duty mechanical bays and a relaxing service area where customers can enjoy a coffee, some TV and great company while they wait for their vehicles.

Jacknife prides itself on being a cost-effective option with high-quality service. Because of this, the mechanical services division has very high customer retention. Many customers even pop-by daily just to grab a coffee with the mechanical crew.

Customer Lounge

Muller said that Jacknife’s customer service is what differentiates them from its competitors.

“Our customers come here because they love our environment.”

Their approach to service has been acknowledged by people outside of their customers. The company has been recognized both locally and provincially for their accomplishments, being named 2017 Cold Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce Large Business of the Year, 2018 finalist for Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Prairie region – Top 4 Transportation Companies in the Prairies, and 2019 finalist for the Alberta Business of the Year awards for Indigenous Business of the Year.
