LCSD Announces Emma Hull As Nominee for Edwin Parr Award
Lakeland Catholic School District is thrilled to announce Emma Hull as their nominee for the 2019 Edwin Parr Teacher Award.
This award recognizes outstanding first year teachers in Alberta. Every year the ASBA (Alberta School Boards’ Association) honours six exemplary first year teachers with this award. School districts are able to nominate any first year teacher from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
When asked why she became a teacher, Emma says she was inspired to teach after she had a positive experience in grade 4, whereby she assisted a fellow student to understand the material being taught. She says that when her classmate knew the answer to a question, he was shocked and got this ‘look’ of understanding in his eyes. Emma says that ‘look’, along with her father being a teacher, are what inspired her to become a teacher herself.
When asked to provide the Bible verse that resonates the most with her, Emma says it is Deuteronomy 31:6: “Be strong and bold, have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you.” This is evident in how Emma approaches the classroom with care and compassion for all of her students adapting to each of their needs and learning styles. Her classroom is a welcoming and positive learning environment. She makes every student feel that they matter on their learning journey with her.
Lakeland Catholic School District is proud of their 2019 Edwin Parr nominee and would like to thank Emma for her commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
