Two arrested for suspected drug trafficking near St. Paul

Two people have been arrested after RCMP confiscated a “significant quantity” of crystal methamphetamine.

On Tuesday, the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) said they were conducting pro-active patrols in rural county areas.

During those patrols, a traffic stop was conducted north of St. Paul on Range Road 95.

This vehicle stop resulted in officers locating a significant quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine, said the RCMP. The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

“While drug trafficking isn’t the primary focus of our unit, it is often a contributing factor to much of the rural crime in Eastern Alberta,” says Constable Guillaume Wilson, EADRCRU.  “Arresting those responsible for trafficking drugs within the community will help us in disrupting criminal activity in the area.”

Bobbie Houle (28) of Goodfish Lake was arrested on outstanding warrants from St. Paul and Edmonton, which included offences of:

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• Possession of identity documents (x3)
• Failing to comply with conditions of an Undertaking (x2)
• Obstructing a peace officer
• Identity Fraud
• Driving a motor vehicle without insurance

Following the traffic stop, she was charged with several new offences, which included:

• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
• Failure to comply with a Recognizance (x2)

Brian Lomax (36) of Myrnam was charged with multiple offences, which included:

• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
• Failing to comply with a probation order

Both were remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing today in St. Paul Provincial Court.
