Lloydminster man dies in car vs semi collision on Hwy 55

A Lloydminster made has died following a collision between a car and a semi-truck on Monday evening, at Highway 55 and five kilometres west of 881.

Bonnyville RCMP with assistance from Lac La Biche RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision involving a car and a semi-truck around 3:30 in the afternoon.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a car was travelling eastbound on Highway 55 and collided head on with a westbound semi-tractor.

Tragically, the 40-year-old male driver of the car from Lloydminster was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male driver of the semi-tractor was not injured.

Bonnyville RCMP and a RCMP Collision Analyst remained on scene for several hours and the investigation continues.

No charges will be laid and further updates are not anticipated. The name of the deceased will not be released.
