Young artists in the Bonnyville area will have an opportunity to showcase their work and advance their skills. Aurora Visual Arts Association is hosting a contest looking for a budding artist to sponsor for upcoming youth paint nights.
“I truly believe that you get back tenfold what you put out to the universe,” is what one extremely generous citizen said when asked why they wanted to sponsor a local child to attend painting sessions put on by the Aurora Visual Arts Association. Lorelei Gertz- Cummins, Chairperson of AVAA and teacher at Bonnyville Centralized High School, was surprised to receive a message that a Bonnyville local wanted to give back to a child who may not have the means to participate in activities like these.
“I was thinking how lucky we are to be able to put our child in all sorts of activities without worrying about money. So I just thought it would be nice to do something for another kid.” The kind citizen wanted to remain anonymous.
Youth paint parties are for students ages 8-17. They will be held after school at BCHS on January 23, February 20, March 20, and April 24, 2019. Each session has a different theme and the students are guided along the way, yet given the opportunity to add their creative flair.
How can you or your child have the chance at this sponsorship? Students are asked to fill out the form at the end of this article and explain why they would like to attend this series of youth paint parties! The message should outline the desire to participate in these classes as well as anything that may hold them back from attending. Be honest! Deadline to write in is Sunday, January 20 at 6pm and the lucky recipient will be notified on Monday January 21. Good luck and best wishes!
