RCMP are looking for two suspects in relation to ATM thefts earlier this month in Goodfish Lake and La Corey.
Over the past weeks, the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) has conducted a multi-jurisdictional investigation into ATM thefts that have been occurring in the Lakeland area.
On December 10, 2018, EADRCRU conducted a search warrant at a residence in Saddle Lake and recovered an ATM that had been stolen from the Carl Bull Store in Goodfish Lake. Three people were arrested at the residence and a significant amount of evidence was seized from the location, including a vehicle stolen from Lloydminster and a prohibited firearm.
The investigation continued and resulted in the collection of evidence and the recovery of the ATM stolen from the La Corey Esso. Surveillance footage, physical evidence, and forensic evidence led to two of the arrested individuals being charged with multiple offences related to the break and enters.
Jordan Steinhauer (35) and Mackenzie Giant (24) of Saddle Lake were charged with multiple offences, including the following:
- Two counts of breaking and entering and committing and offence
- Two counts of using a firearm in the commission of an offence
- Disguised while committing an offence
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Both males were remanded into custody and are being held following appearance in court in St Paul on December 20, 2018. The third individual from the residence was released without charges.
Byron Hunter (44) and Tyson Hunter (46) of Saddle Lake are currently wanted in relation to these offences and the RCMP is seeking assistance from the public in locating them.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking if you have information about this incident to please call the St. Paul RCMP at 780-645-8888 or call your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
EADRCRU and local RCMP Detachments will continue investigating the ATM thefts and attempted ATM thefts in the area.
“We will be making it a priority to locate and apprehend Byron Hunter and Tyson Hunter” said Cst. Guillaume WILSON (EADRCRU). “It’s simply a matter of time until we find them.”
