Public Hearing Scheduled Nov. 13 for Town’s Cannabis Bylaws
It’s coming back to the people.
The amendments to the Town of Bonnyville’s cannabis bylaw which restricts public smoking passed first reading at the council meeting Tuesday.
That means the Town will host a public hearing on Nov. 13 for residents input.
Council had a tight vote last meeting to draft changes to treat cannabis similarly to alcohol, using the Alberta Gaming Liquor Commission as a guide. What needed tweaking was the further guidance on consumption in vehicles and how it could be transported.
The public hearing for cannabis shop signage will be happening at the same time as well.
Two development permits for cannabis shops were accepted at the municipal planning commission Tuesday as well.
The Hive and Canna Cabana would be tentatively located beside each other at 5504 and 5506 50th Avenue.
