PROPOSED BYLAW AMENDMENT

BYLAW NO. 1433-15

 

SMOKE FREE PUBLIC PLACES AND WORK PLACES

 

Town of Bonnyville Council is considering an amendment to the Smoke Free Public Places and Work Places Bylaw No. 1433-15 respecting smoke free public places and work places.  By way of Amending Bylaw No. 1433-15, amendments to the Smoke Free Public Places and Work Places Bylaw are being proposed as follows:

 

 

1.2  Section 4 REGULATION OF SMOKING

 

  1. Add at the end of Section 4.1 the following:

 

“Except as provided in this Bylaw, no person may use or consume Cannabis in a public place or any place other than a residence, temporary residence, or a place, or class of place, where Cannabis may be used or consumed.”

 

  1. Add Section 4.3 to read as follows:

 

“4.3 Except as otherwise provided for in this Bylaw, no person may consume Cannabis in a vehicle unless, when the Cannabis is being consumed, the vehicle is a temporary residence.”

 

  1. Add Section 4.4 to read as follows:

 

“4.4 Cannabis may be transported only in accordance with this section. Except as otherwise provided for in the Bylaw, or in a licence, no person may:

 

  • Transport Cannabis unless the Cannabis is in a container that is capped, corked or otherwise closed, whether or not the container has been previously opened;
  • Transport Cannabis in a vehicle if the Cannabis is within easy access of an occupant of the vehicle.”

PUBLIC HEARING – Town Council will hear all submissions on the proposed amendments, and all persons who are present at the Town Council meeting and wish to speak on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in Town Council Chamber, 4917 49 Avenue, Bonnyville.

 

All written submissions for Town Council consideration or those wishing to speak for or against the proposed amendment must forward their request to the Town Office no later than 4:30 p.m., Monday November 12, 2018.
