Cold Lake Wings GM and Head Coach Johnathan Aitken is pleased to announce the team has added Czech born defenceman, Pavel Simak (’99) to the roster for 2018/19.

“Pavel has an excellent skill set for a defenceman and is a dangerous offensive threat. At 6-foot-3, 190 lbs, he certainly has the size to be successful in this league,” said Aitken.

“He is highly capable of moving the puck and is a physical presence in the defensive zone. I think it will be exciting for our fans to see a player who developed under a European hockey system.”

Simak has played in the Czech Republic’s Under 16, 18 and 20 system with SHK Hodonin and Trinec, while also suiting up in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) last season, gaining experience in North America.

“I’m very happy and thankful to be here and can’t wait to start playing in Cold Lake with the Wings,” said Simak.
