Ice at the C2 Delayed Another Week Until Sept. 10
The Bonnyville Pontiacs and Bonnyville skaters will have to wait another week before they can lace up the skates at home. There were hopes that the ice would be finished by next Tuesday, but complications have pushed the date of completion to the week of Sept. 10.
“We looked at a few different options and we could push to make it happen next week. But we decided to wait,” said C2 general manager, Todd Muir.
They have been waiting for a part to arrive from customs in the US from their heat exchange. In the meantime, Frog Lake has hosted the Bonnyville Pontiacs training camp, and Glendon the minor hockey camps.
“Our contractor confirmed he doesn’t get them until next week. So we’re gonna wait for that and ensure it’s all done up the right way. That will put us into the week of the 10th.”
With that uncertainty, Muir said they decided to not take any unnecessary risks.
“We figured out a way we could’ve done it but it was not using the exactly the way it should be, and you can’t take changes with these types of plants. We’re better with that
“We’ve got guys skating in Frog Lake with the Pontiacs, and the Glendon arena is still set up to serve the needs until we get going. So without those it might’ve been a different story.”
