The Bonnyville Pontiacs have announced TJ Millar as the team’s new Assistant Coach.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be joining the Pontiacs staff this upcoming season. I want to thank Team President Ron Rusnak, Head Coach Rick Swan, and Director of Business Operations Robb Hunter for the discussions we had prior to me joining this organization,” said Millar.

“The Pontiacs have an incredible reputation and I look forward to contributing to what we expect to be a tremendous season.”

The Pontiacs parted ways with former Assistant Coach/GM Larry Draper in July for what is believed to be financial reasons.

Last year, Millar was Assistant Coach of the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), and won a SJHL championship with the Hawks.

“We are thrilled to be adding an assistant coach of the caliber of TJ,” said Pontiacs Head Coach and General Manager Rick Swan.

“TJ brings youthful enthusiasm, world class education, and perhaps most importantly, championship-winning experience to Pontiacs.”

While earning a Sports Management Degree from the Sports Institute of Finland, Millar was on the staff of the Finnish U15 and U16 National teams. Millar then worked as video coach for the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League.

Millar has already relocated to Bonnyville to begin preparations for the upcoming season.

Training camp for Pontiacs players begins next Thursday.

Pontiacs’ season tickets are available through the Centennial Centre Welcome Desk or by calling 780-812-3400.

Early bird pricing for both Pontiacs’ season tickets and World Junior A Challenge ticket packages are available.
