St. Paul RCMP Say Yesterday’s Fires Appear Related

It appears that both fires yesterday morning in St. Paul are related, says the RCMP.

Both fires occurred at Power Merchants locations, one causing some damage to the inside of the store. The available information suggests they were not accidental in nature.

St. Paul Fire was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at around 5:00 am yesterday morning.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the front area of the premise to be fully involved. A key holder was on scene when the fire department arrived.

The Fire Department advised the key holder to retrieve additional keys from another location, as to not cause any additional damage entering the building. Within minutes the key holder returned advising something didn’t seem right at the other location.

Immediately, additional resources were called in for a working structure fire at the other Power Merchants location on 50th Ave. Mallaig Fire was also requested to provide mutual aid support.

An investigation is ongoing by both the St. Paul Fire Department and the St. Paul RCMP.

Police are urging the public to provide any information they may have in relation to these fires. If you have information about this case, please contact the St. Paul RCMP Detachment at 780-645-8870.
