Drugs and Ammunition seized from Saddle Lake Residence

On July 11, 2018, members of the RCMP Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) conducted an intelligence-led operation in Saddle Lake to locate and arrest a wanted male from Athabasca on multiple outstanding warrants dating back to 2015 and St. Paul from earlier this year.

Lucas Marler (32) of Athabasca County, was found hiding in a basement of a residence in Saddle Lake and arrested without incident.

Also found at the property was a vehicle associated to him and other criminal offences. The vehicle was seized and a search warrant was executed which led to the seizure of a small quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and ammunition inside.

Lucas Marler is facing several charges, including:

  • Flight from police
  • Resisting a peace officer
  • Using a forged document
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Failing to attend court

He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in St. Paul Provincial Court on July 26, 2018. He will also be appearing in Athabasca Provincial Court on Aug. 7, 2018.
