World’s Longest Flag Football Game Looking for Participants

Bonnyville Voyageurs players stand on the sidelines during the Scott MacDonald Memorial Game last year.

The search is on for volunteers to participate in the World’s Longest Flag Football Game on Aug. 16-19 at Walsh Field. The event would be a fundraiser for the Scott MacDonald Memorial that raises money for local charities.

Larry Godziuk, Bonnyville Voyageurs coach, says there is lots of excitement but not much interest yet.

“It was a spur-of-the-moment thing to see who’d be interested. So far six players have signed up,” said Godziuk.

Godziuk estimates they will need 30 players as the previous “World’s Longest Flag Football Game” in Manitoba had that many participants, and twice as many volunteers. They look after food and water for the players.

“It would be something different.”
