Bonnyville RCMP charge two in relation to Drug Trafficking

On July 3, 2018, police arrested 38-year-old Sheldon Bienvenu and executed a search warrant on a vehicle and residence in Ardmore, Alberta.

Police located nearly 100 grams of what is suspected to be crystal methamphetamine, over 320 grams of what is believed to be gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB). In addition, police also seized over $3,700.00 in cash, two functional homemade tasers and other items consistent with drug trafficking.

During the execution of the search warrant at the residence police also arrested 30-year-old Jillian Dumontier.

Sheldon Bienvenu was charged with 10 Criminal Code offences which include:

  • Possession for the purposes of trafficking (crystal meth)
  • Possession of GHB
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to a prohibition order
  • Possession of proceeds of a crime

He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Bonnyville Provincial Court on July 5, 2018.

Jillian Dumontier, was charged with of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a prohibited weapon. She was released from custody with conditions and will be appearing in Bonnyville Provincial Court on August 7, 2018.

Bonnyville General Investigative Section (GIS) conducted a drug trafficking investigation with the assistance of Bonnyville and Cold Lake General Duty, GIS and Police Dog Services (PDS) and the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Unit (EADRCRU) in the Municipal District of Bonnyville.
