St. Paul Fire Chief, Trevor Kotowich, has announced the department has named a Deputy Fire Chief (DC); Henry Thomson.

“DC Thomson is well known to the community, and brings with him a vast knowledge and appreciation of the area and its needs,” said the chief in a release on Thursday.

DC Thomson has been a member of the Fire Department for 23 years, and has served in a Chief Officer position since 2012. This position was created out of an agreement between the County of St. Paul, Town of Elk Point and Town of St. Paul.

“The focus will be to streamline fire training throughout the County of St. Paul, and assist the Ashmont, Elk Point and Mallaig Fire Chiefs with administrative duties and reporting.” As Chief Kotowich explains, this collaborative approach will strengthen the “already great service that is being provided by these four fire departments to their respective communities and the region as a whole.”

Deputy Chief Thomson will officially start on August 13th.
