Bonnyville Senior AA Pontiacs Host Awards Banquet
The Bonnyville Sr. AA Pontiacs capped off their Provincial championship season with an awards banquet Saturday night to honour the top players from the team and celebrate the great success of the 2017-18 season.
Devon Kalinski (14g, 6a) earned MVP honours for the year and also shared the top scorer award with Lucas Isley (8g, 12a) despite playing two less games.
The captain also took home Best Player Performer. Isley led the team in scoring in both the league and Provincial championships with seven points in each tournament.
Nicholas Scott earned the Best Defenseman award, Tanner Corbeil was named the Top Rookie, and Joel Miller received the Most Gentlemanly Player honour.
Denis Cadrin earned the President’s Award for most dedicated player, and shared the distinction of Unsung Hero with teammate Dallas Desjarlais.
The Pontiacs hosted the Alberta AA Men’s Hockey Provincials after going 7-3-2 in the regular season. They lost to Daysland in the North Central Men’s AA Hockey League Champs, but would not suffer another loss the rest of the way. They ended the year in style with a 6-2 win over the Elk Point Elks for the gold medal.
