Elizabeth Métis Settlement has declared a state of emergency due to a wild fire.

Many residents have been issued evacuation orders, as emergency crews work to put out the blaze.

Assistance is being requested from RCMP, Government of Alberta, appropriate Alberta Foresty, other necessary departments, and neighbouring fire departments.

A command centre has been set up at the Administration building and the Community Hall has been opened for the displaced.

Any members in need of assistance are to contact the Settlement office.

The RCMP are on Settlement assisting in the evacuations.
