St. Paul RCMP arrest two males and seize drugs after traffic stop

On April 24, 2018 St. Paul RCMP along with the Eastern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit (EADCRU) members were conducting patrols in Saddle Lake.

Police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on a stolen truck. The vehicle stopped and a passenger jumped out and fled on foot. The passenger was quickly arrested and police seized several pills which are believed to be opioid’s and over $2,100.00 in cash.

The truck was later found abandoned in a field south of Highway 652. The driver was located and arrested a short time later with the assistance of St. Paul Police Dog Services (PDS) and Traffic Service members.

Jareth Belland, (26) of Red Earth Creek has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Trafficking
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Obstruction
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00

He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and is set to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on May 3, 2018.

Frank Jackson, (19) of Saddle Lake has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Identity fraud
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
  • Obstruction (x2)

He was released on a Recognizance and is set to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on May 10, 2018.

 

As these matters are now before the courts no further details are available
