Royals Football gears up for Spring
The Cold Lake Football program is anxiously waiting for the snow to melt off Soholt Field. The clubs will be hitting the field May 1st, for Spring Camp.
Both the High School Royals and the Bantam Ravens will be suiting up on the 1st, confirmed Coach Kelly Johnson. Both clubs will have their equipment night the night before practice, April 30th at 4:00 pm at Cold Lake Middle School.
“We are super excited for our second season of Peewee Football and are excited about the growing number of players interested in trying Football,” Coach Johnson said the Peewees will be hitting the field a week after the older clubs, May 8th. Equipment night will be held on that day, also at 4:00 pm at Cold Lake Middle School.
“Our spring camp will end with Jamborees in Bonnyville for both the Senior Royals on May 26th and Bantam Ravens on June 2nd,” the jamboree in Bonnyville helps the clubs assess where they are in comparison to other teams in the Wheatland Football League, said the coach.
The coach said there’s some other big news in Cold Lake Football, “this past weekend we had 9 Senior Royals tryout for the North Senior Bowl team; Braeden Wicht, Nathan Roberts, Nathan Williston, Jacob Roszell, Keith Swan, Aidan Harrison, Alex Dobinski, Liam Blackburn, and Jesse Myers.”
“And this weekend Aiden Pelley is tryout for the Alberta U16 team in Calgary.”
