St. Paul Man Charged with Second Degree Murder

On March 29, 2018 at approximately 10:44 p.m., St. Paul RCMP responded to an aggravated assault, which occurred at a motel in St. Paul, Alberta.

Police attended the location and found a man who was seriously injured. The victim received local medical assistance before being transported to a hospital in Edmonton for additional treatment. Yesterday morning the victim, 39-year-old Emery John Large, passed away.

Today an autopsy was conducted in Edmonton at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the manner of Mr. Large’s death was determined to be a homicide.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit (South) have charged 42-year-old William Adaire Cardinal with second degree murder. He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in St. Paul Provincial Court on April 12, 2018 by CCTV. Police are not seeking any other suspects regarding this investigation.

The family of Emery Large have asked for privacy as they grieve the loss of their loved one.

 

Given that this matter is now before the courts, the RCMP will not be providing additional information.
