Portage College Voyageurs Athletics have committed Mark Ziobro and Terix Fischer-Kobes, former players of the English River Miners, as new members to the Men’s Hockey Team.
Fischer-Kobes has been a humble leader for the English River Miners on and off the ice for 2 seasons and always puts the team before himself. He is a versatile player that plays both forward and defence and will help build the program with his skill set. Off the ice he has organized many community events and enjoys giving back and caring for others.
“I am incredibly proud of (Fischer-Kobes) and have no doubt that he will represent Portage College with the same class that he represented with the Miners for the past 2 seasons.” Said Head Coach and GM Derek Sweet-Coulter of the English River Miners.
Ziobro is a gritty forward that displays a great amount of courage and passion on the ice. He is a great teammate and leader who will do whatever it takes for his teammates to have success before himself. He has shown success winning a league championship last year and represents his team and community as a model citizen.
“Mark has great character and leadership skills, he will be an important asset to his new hockey team and school. It was a pleasure to coach Mark and I am extremely proud of him. I wish him the best of luck at Portage College!” Said Sweet-Coulter.
“We are confident these two fit the type of individuals we are looking for. Both players (were) alternate captains on their team, which shows the trust that English River Coach, Derek Sweet-Coulter has in them. I have a lot of respect for Derek and his team’s dedication to hard work.” Said Nate Bedford, Head Coach of Portage College Voyageurs Men’s Hockey.
