Damage to Lea Park Bridge, on Highway 897, has caused Alberta Transportation to issue a travel restriction. The bridge that travels over the North Saskatchewan River was revealed to have “significant damage” to its west side, according to Alberta Transportation.

The bridge has been restricted to a maximum vehicle weight of 15 tonnes until further notice. Motorists and trucks are being asked to use alternative routes such as Highway 893 to the west or Highway 17 to the east.

Alberta Transportation reports that they are working on a “temporary fix” that should be complete by March.
