Bonnyville Not a Stop on the 2018 WPCA Circuit

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) will not be coming to Bonnyville this summer on their circuit after contract negotiations with the Bonnyville Agricultural Society were unsuccessful. In a press release from the Bonnyville Ag. Society, the Board of Directors state that they did want the WPCA to come but was unable to reach an agreement.

“To dispel rumours that our Society did not want to host the World Pro Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) in July 2018 we would like to advise that it was quite the contrary – our Board did want to host WPCA.  However we were unable to successfully negotiate a contract.”

The Board recently came to an agreement with the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) to make Bonnyville a stop on their circuit. The CPCA will be holding races at the Bonnyville Ag. Society grounds on June 8-9, 2018. At the time of the announcement, WPCA Champion, Kurt Bensmiller stated the WPCA was surprised about the arrangement.

In leu of the Chuckwagons, the Bonnyville Ag. Society intents to bring the pony wagons and a bigger rodeo for the last weekend of July, 2018. “Our organization is excited about the future and we hope everyone will continue to support our events. As volunteers we try our best.”
