Recreation is a significant contributor to resident quality of life in our region. Encompassing sports, parks, arts & culture, leisure pursuits, and the natural setting, recreation enriches lives and builds communities. Residents in the area enjoy quality of life due to public investment in recreation services and facilities and the efforts of various organizations and individuals working to provide recreational opportunities in the Town of St, Paul, Town of Elk Point, County of St. Paul No. 19, and the Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay.
In order to effectively make decisions about recreation provision and resource priorities, the St. Paul – Elk Point Regional Partnership is undertaking the development of a Recreation Services Master Plan utilizing the Alberta Community Partnership Grant funds of $105,000. The Master Plan will assess the current state and identify priorities and recommendations regarding the provision of recreation facilities, active lifestyle and social gathering opportunities, and recreation services to meet the needs of residents and visitors into the future. RC Strategies+ PERC (a planning company) has been retained to work with the partnership to complete the Master Plan.
Consultation with the community is critical to the development of the Master Plan. Community partners, organizations, and residents will be provided with opportunities to share their thoughts on the current situation and future needs. A survey will be mailed to households in the region in early 2018 to gather the opinions of area residents. As well, the perspectives of community groups will be gathered in at the same time. Please visit your local municipal website for project updates and to learn of other opportunities to share your thoughts.
The Recreation Services Master Plan is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018.
