Man Charged after Kicking Dog Several Times
On January 7th, at approximately 3:45pm, RCMP were called to Value Drug Mart at the Marina Mall. Initial reports were that a male was passed out, behind the mall, grossly intoxicated. RCMP also found out that the male had kicked a dog several times.
RCMP attended, located the male and he was arrested. The RCMP found out that a witness identified and witnessed the man attempt to kick the dog four or five times, but landed his kicks three times. The dog had been tied up to a garbage can, by the Value Drug Mart. The witness intervened and stopped the assault on the dog.
The dog’s harness ended up breaking, because the dog was was trying to break lose and had. The dog then ran off. The witness notified the owner as to what had happened.
RCMP charged 32 year old Anthony Martial, from Cold Lake First Nations, with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with a condition to a recognizance. He was held to appear before a Justice of the Peace and was release on a $1,000 no cash bail. Martial will appear in court next on January 24th at 10:00 am.
