2018 Elk Point Utility Rates Going Up
The water/sewer rates for the Town of Elk Point are being proposed to increase due to the Regional Water Commission rate increase and the Capital costs for the water reservoir as well replacing 700 meters with new electronic meters, 274 have been completed already.
NOTE: Rates to be effective January 1, 2018 Consumption
Proposed Elk Point utility rates increase are for 3 reasons:
- To cover the costs of the Elk Point/St. Paul Regional Water Commission water increase from $2.02 m3 to
$2.10 m3 effective January 1, 2018 Consumption;
- To cover the cost of new electronic water meters (700) being replaced; and
- To cover the costs of the upgrades to the Town’s water system (reservoir).
The 2015, 2016, 2017 rates and the new proposed 2018 rate are outlined below:

In accordance with Section 230 (1) of the Municipal Government Act, Town of Elk Point will be holding a Public Hearing at 7:00 PM Monday January 22, 2018 to consider a water rate increase of $16.00 per month residential and $19.00 month Non‐Residential effective January 1, 2018 Consumption. First billing period will be February 2018.
