Two people deceased following collision in Saddle Lake

St. Paul RCMP investigate fatal two vehicle collision

On Oct. 31, 2017 at approximately 8:30 p.m., St Paul RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Saddle Lake Cree Nation.

A van with six occupants was heading southbound on the Northsouth Road when it crossed into the path of a northbound van with 10 occupants and a collision occurred.

Several occupants from both vehicles were transported to surrounding hospitals with various serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Tragically, a 42-year-old-male and a 43-year old female, both of Saddle Lake who were occupants of the northbound van were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Traffic on the road was detoured for several hours while police along with an RCMP Collision Analyst investigated. The investigation continues and all contributing factors related to this collision are being considered including weather and road conditions.

Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased and the community of Saddle Lake Cree Nation that have been affected by this tragic incident. The names of the deceased will not be released.
