Jr A Pontiacs in the Community
The Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs have been investing time in the community, through a number of projects, including; mentoring upcoming coaches and players, helping the elderly with large household chores & yardwork and helping the youth through C-School. On Halloween, watch for the Pontiacs, as they help all the little ghouls cross mayor intersections in Bonnyville.
Bonnyville Minor Hockey Coach Mentorship
Coach SWAN and Coach DRAPER were pleased to be with the BMHA Coaches last night to talk about “Bringing the Practice To The Game.” Planning considerations with respect to player and team development by ‘thinking outside the box’ with the drills that coaches use in their practices can ‘bring the practice to the game.’
Year Vision, habits, player homework (getting them to think beyond the rink), parent communication, player / coach feedback, goaltender involvement in practices and the importance of position specific as a staple of practices were discussed.
With the support of STRIKE Energy the Bonnyville PONTIACS are committed to Coach and Player Mentorship in the Lakeland Area and upcoming will include Goaltender Sessions, On-Ice Sessions and regular Coach Hot Stove meetings throughout the 2017/18 season
PONTIACS to the Rescue
I would like to extend a grateful thank you to the Pontiac players who came to help an elderly couple who are renovating their basement after a sewage flood. The Pontiac boys unloaded a whole truck load of drywall, flooring, sub-flooring and ceiling tiles and packed it all down to the basement for them. They were all true young gentlemen and they did an awesome job. Nice to see such helpful gentlemen in our community! Thank you Pontiacs.

Another Great Day at C-School
During a typical week students will race the track, which includes estimating, timing with a stopwatch, collecting and writing data, and also graphing the results in a bar graph. Students also get the opportunity to use the climbing wall, skate in the Cenovus arena with the Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs and interview them afterwards, and also take part in a scavenger hunt, which incorporates timing, measuring, answering questions, recording data and team work.
C2-school is an innovative experiential education program that provides students in grades 3 to 7 with hands-on learning opportunities to explore curricular concepts in a safe and caring learning environment. Students use the amenities and resources available at the Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre (C2) to learn about literacy, numeracy, science, health and wellness, citizenship, and skills that will prepare them for the world of work.
