Elk Point woman fights for her life, after losing husband in tragic accident 4 months ago
Rhonda Lecopoy has been through the unimaginable. On May 24th, 2017 Rhonda’s world shattered as she learned her husband, Jody died suddenly. Jody and three work colleagues were travelling from Elk Point to St. Paul when they collided, head on, with another vehicle. Three of the four men travelling together, along with the driver of the other vehicle, did not survive the tragic accident. Rhonda was left without her soulmate and father to her ten year old daughter, Ashley.
Just three months after the death of her husband Rhonda was diagnosed with Stage 4 triple negative breast cancer metastasized to the liver. A GoFundMe page has been set up in her name to assist with any costs of treatments, going to & from Edmonton, associated costs to help with her daughter Ashley, and if she should need to seek treatment outside of Canada.
According to the gofundme page, “Rhonda has had to leave her employment so she can receive chemo in hopes of slowing down or stopping the spread of cancer. Doctor’s prognosis is 2 years. She is fighting very hard to have extra time with Ashley. Depending on how her treatments go and what results she receives in December, she is considering options outside of Canada.”
Rhonda is a fighter, with the hashtag #TeamRhonda gaining traction and a community behind her, she is ready to take on cancer. The GoFundMe page, which was started by Shannon Campeau, has reached nearly $6,000 of the $100,000 goal, in the six hours it has been active. Head to GoFundMe to help #TeamRhonda.
