Elk Point RCMP Investigate Homicide of 17 year old Frog Lake Male
On the evening of July 19, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Elk Point RCMP responded to a shooting incident that allegedly occurred on the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement. A male was then found deceased a short time later on the Frog Lake First Nation. No one else was injured.
Upon arrival in Frog Lake at the scene, police located the deceased male in a vehicle with what a witness believed to be fatal injuries suffered from a gunshot.
An autopsy was conducted on July 21, 2017 by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton in which the manner of the 17-year-old male’s death was determined to be homicide. The youth’s name will not be released at this time.
Members of the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit – North (MCU), along with Elk Point RCMP and the Forensic Identification Section (FIS) continue the investigation into this homicide.
Investigators do not believe that this was a random incident. Further information will be provided to the media by way of updates when it becomes available.
