Cyr speaks on Unity Agreement

MLA for the Bonnyville-Cold Lake region, Scott Cyr says he stands behind the vote to unite the Wildrose party with the Progressive Conservation party to make one conservative party, the United Conservative Party.

“With the vote of both the Wildrose Party and the Progressive Conservative Party coming in at a resounding 95% for amalgamation it sent a clear message to everyone in Alberta, a strong united conservative party is good for Alberta.” Cyr says the Wildrose have always listened to the people and it was clear what the people wanted, “Saturday was a momentous day for all conservatives across our province, and I thank the grassroots for participating in the process.”

This is just the beginning, says the MLA, “there is still a lot of work to do, and we need to continue build on this momentum for strong and prosperous Alberta.”

MLA Cyr says that the united party will be a strong force in the next provincial election. “Albertans are all looking for real change and in the 2019 provincial election Albertans will have the opportunity to throw out the NDP government and end the damage they are doing to the Albertan economy and Albertan families. We need to bring back the Alberta advantage and take pride in our industries again.”

“My focus will be on empowering the grassroots in our constituency.  Our new United Conservative Party will continue to hold the NDP government to account and continue to be the voice of everyday Albertans.”

The leader of the new party has yet to be voted on or announced, both Jason Kenny and the leader of the Wildrose party, Brian Jean, have announced intentions to run for leadership of the new United Conservative Party. “It is time that we look our past differences and start showing that we are the best place to live in Canada.”
