Over $47K Raised in Third Annual Ronald McDonald Run

Lakeland Region Runs for the Ronald McDonald House
Hundreds raise money and spirits for families in need

Ronald McDonald House Charities® Northern Alberta (RMHCNA) can count themselves lucky because of the support raised by the Lakeland region of Alberta. On Saturday, May 6th, the third annual Run for RMHCNA raised over $47,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton.
The Run for RMHCNA had 395 participants running/walking a 5km, 10km or half marathon distance. Participants raised funds through their registration and their own fundraising to support the programs and services available at the Ronald McDonald House.
“This is the third year Run for RMHCNA has been in the Lakeland region. Each year I am in awe of the commitment and passion of the sponsors, volunteers and participants,” says Oreen Skiba, Stakeholder Relations Manager for the Lakeland Region. “This charity run is a true community event that provides our army of kindness with a place to showcase the best of themselves.”
That army of kindness included over 90 volunteers who contributed 350 hours of volunteerism to make this event possible.

“The House might be in Edmonton, but many families in the Lakeland area have either needed to stay there or known someone who has stayed at RMHCNA,” says Martin Dugas, CEO of RMHCNA. “We are filled with gratitude at the outpouring of support we receive from the Lakeland area for this event.”
Major sponsors of the event included Canadian Natural, the City of Cold Lake, RBC, Imperial Oil, Scotiabank, Coca-Cola and Lakeland Credit Union.
“Many people in our region know of someone who has benefited from RMHCNA,” says Carrie Baumgardner of Canadian Natural. “Our employees are supportive of this organization and see the difference it makes to families here at home and across Alberta. This is why we support the Run for RMHCNA.”
