Summer of ’17 will be Summer of Fun!

Color Me Rad, Amazing Race, outdoor movies & more!

Accessible, adventurous, and even amazing! – this is what the County of St. Paul & Elk Point FCSS is promising in its schedule of summer activities. Dates for all of these events are still to be finalized, but watch for posters to find out when the fun is coming to you.

Last year, outdoor movies shown in a variety of communities proved to be popular. To make the movies accessible to as many people as possible this year, the big screen will travel to Elk Point, St. Vincent, Ferguson Flats, Lac Bellevue, Stoney Lake, Cork Hall, Ashmont, Boscombe, St. Lina, Heinsburg, and Westcove.

For young people, science afternoons will be featured at the hall in Ferguson Flats, and at the libraries in Elk Point, Ashmont, and Mallaig.

Joggers of all ages will enjoy Color Me Rad in Mallaig and Elk Point. Participants in these fun runs will be easily recognizable because as they run they are bombarded with powdered paint! After the event, their T-shirts are colorful souvenirs, and the cornstarch based paint washes off hair and skin.

Competitive athletes who appreciate the squeak of rubber on pavement can enter a 3 on 3 basketball tournament in either Elk Point on July 15 or in Ashmont on August 12. (Dates are tentative.)

The short version of the Amazing Race held in Elk Point last year was so well received that a full day version is in the works.

More information on these events is available from the County of St. Paul & Elk Point Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) offices in Elk Point (780)724-3800 or

St Paul (780) 645-1950.
