Bantam Spring Football Season Ready to Go
Teams in the Lakeland gear up for Football
Bantam football spring camps are getting underway. Parent meetings and registration are the main focuses of April. Some teams have their first workouts at the tail end of the month.
St. Paul Bantam Bengals
The Bantam Bengals have their registration nights on April 12th + 13th. From their testing will be conducted on April 30th, before the spring season gets underway. May 7th, 23rd 28th, and June 1st are invite only nights for the Bengals. June 5th-9th and June 12th-16th will be spring camp weeks. The Bengals Jamboree will be held June 17th in St. Paul from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bonnyville Bantam Bandits
The Bonnyville Bandits have their spring registration on April 24th. Things get going for the Bandits in May. Workouts will be held often throughout the month. Somewhere between 20-22 players will return from last year’s squad. It will be a big year for the Bandits with the opening of the newly renovated Walsh Field coming soon. There will also be a few workouts in Edmonton that some players will attend during the spring.
“We run the month of May, and have several options for a jamboree. One is in St. Paul, but is a bit far out. Parents usually look for one month of spring camp. We’re looking for something closer to the end of May.” Coach Mickey Fagnan says.

Cold Lake Bantam Royals
The Bantam Royals start their spring season on May 15. The exact schedules for the season are yet to be determined, but LakelandConnect.net will make sure to pass it along as soon as it is available. The Bantams have a large group of Grade 9’s who will be on the team this year. Coach Kelly Johnson expects about 22 players to return from last year’s squad. The Royals will participate in the St. Paul jamboree on June 17th.
“We have huge expectations for our Bantam team this year. 35 kids is the number we’d like to see this year, 35 is perfect for practices and for getting everyone into the game.” Coach Johnson explains.
