Final Bonnyville Live Performance of the Season.

This past Saturday’s performance at Bonnyville Live was outstanding! Artist, Art Larmand, who has been performing at the musical event for years noted that this session was “the best Bonnyville Live has ever been.”  The musical artists on stage Saturday, April 7 were able to make the audience come alive with their naturally talented vocals and knack for playing a variety of instruments.  By the end of the show spectators were dancing in the aisles to the closing band, Mumbo Jumbo.

If you’ve never been, Bonnyville Live is like a talent show on steroids.  Velvety voices paired with acoustic guitars.  Suspenseful classical on brass.  Toe-tapping rock accompanied by electric and bass guitars.  Beats on the djembe drum. The music was pan-genre and appealed to a variety of people in the audience. During intermission, one attendee mentioned that the “Bonnyville Opry” was dead, meaning that the days of the stage only being home to country music has expanded to include all types.  Artists provided fresh original songs as well as covers of well-known classics spanning the decades such as “Free Falling”, “Stand By Me”, “For Whom the Bell Tolls”, “Spoonman”, and  “Rock ‘n’ Roll Song” to name a few.

Master of Ceremonies Walter Boldt, who has resided in Bonnyville a number of times in his life reminisced about the many musical performances he participated in over the years at the Lyle Victor Albert Centre.  For Boldt, this season finale of Bonnyville Live was bittersweet as he announced his retirement.  He gave a shout-out to many people who have kept the arts alive in town including Pat and Ian Perry, Rose-Marie Cameron, and Lorelei Gertz-Cummins.  Though this was the last official show for the season, Bonnyville Live will be performing again on May 13, 2018 at 8PM as a fundraiser for the Friendship Centre’s Food Bank.
