Crane Lake Home Consumed by Fire

House unoccupied; no injuries.

Last night the Iron River and Lacorey fire departments responded to a house fire at Crane Lake. Deputy Chief for the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority, Jay Melvinsays there were no injuries; however house was destroyed in the blaze.

“It looks like the fire started in the attic area,” Melvin could not confirm how the fire started because the investigation is still on-going. “Unfortunately, the house was consumed in the fire. Nobody was hurt and we’re continuing to investigate to determine the cause of the fire.” The house was unoccupied at the time of the blaze, confirms Melvin, “it was called in by a neighbour.”

Fire crews were able to put out the fire last night, Melvin says they will return today, “they’ll do a spot check, there could still be your typical smoldering that will be put out today.” The owners have been notified of the fire.
