PUBLIC NOTICE TO ELECTORS OF THE

TOWN OF BONNYVILLE, PROVINCE OF ALBERTA

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Town of Bonnyville, in the Province of Alberta, has given first reading to election By-law No. 1458-17 which will, upon final passage and approval, authorize the proper officers of the said Town of Bonnyville to establish the general rules and conduct of an election as well as provide the times and locations to receive nominations, require that every nomination be accompanied by a deposit, and provide for the possibility of taking votes by means of electronic voting.

 

This bylaw also contains provisions relating to an advance vote, incapacitated voter at home, institutional vote, a vote on a bylaw or question and voting and post-vote procedures.

 

FURTHER NOTICE is hereby given by the Council of the Town of Bonnyville that, unless a petition of the owners for a vote on By-law No. 1458-17 is demanded, as provided for by the terms of Section 231 of the Municipal Government Act, the said Council may pass the said election by-law.

 

Pursuant to section 223 of the Municipal Government Act the number of petitioners required to sign a petition is 10% of the population.

 

The petition for a vote must be received by the Chief Administrative Officer within 15 days of the last publication of this notice and shall contain on each page “an accurate and identical statement of the purpose of the petition”.  (Further requirements of the petition are provided in section 224 of the Municipal Government Act.)  DATE of the last publication of this notice is the 28th day of March, 2017.
