Close but no cigar; but these little guys just in Atoms will be there once again on day I’m sure of it!
Words I’m sure can not heal the pain the little Atom Avalanche players, coaches and parents must have felt when they lost  in the semi final game  this past weekend in Delburne,. Especially after coming back from down two goals in the third period to tie the game only to lose in overtime. But just getting to the semi finals is quite an accomplishment.
The Avalanche won their first two games, Thursday winning against Fox Creek 6 to 2, then winning again Friday against the host Delburne 5 to 2. Saturday morning they suffered a loss to Clive 7 to 4 but still finish first in their pool sending them to the semi final against Smoky River Sunday morning.. It was  a hard fought, heart breaking game they would eventually lose in overtime. ‘King Kong Konnor’ Poitras would finish the tournament forth overall in points with 11 goals and 4 assists, Cash ‘Paycheque’ Capjack would finish tenth overall with 5 goals and 4 assist, Sam ‘Spiderman’ Rogal with a goal and 3 assists, Vaughn ‘the Vulture’ Ockerman with a goal and 2 assists, Ryan ‘ Ram Rod’ Cameron with 1 goal and 1 assist, Kaleb ‘Forumla One’ Flamand, Brendon ‘Blue Line’ Haesch -Baker , and  ‘Bo Diddley’ Fontaine all recording an assist.  The masked Man ‘Kid Kade’ Fontaine turned in the second best save percentage in the tournament recording a .888 save percentage for the weekend.
There was some consolation, Smokey River would go on to win the gold medal and Clive would win the silver, both of those team had beat the Avalanche; but not by much.
Great job by the players and coaches, guys we are all very proud of you !
Now for the K.A. Campbell quote of the week. ‘ In youth we learn; in age we understand.’
