Paint Party brings in $1,000 for Food Bank
Aurora Visual Arts Association hosted their fundraiser paint party on February 25, 2017. Twenty-five painters enjoyed the afternoon creating beautiful sunset silhouettes. AVAA volunteers were proud to be able to present $1000 to the Bonnyville Friendship Centre!
The funds raised were used to purchase gift cards to Brousseau’s Department Store, which were then donated to the food bank. Upon presentation, AVAA members were surprised to see a number of empty shelves.

“Around 100 families access the food bank per month,” said one staff. After a short tour of the facility, Lauri Fitzpatrick revealed that on an average year, they do not have to purchase goods until March. This year that they’ve been having to buy food and personal hygiene products since late January. Times are tough. If you want to donate, please contact the Bonnyville Friendship Centre to see what is needed and purchase supplies accordingly.
