St. Paul RCMP arrest youth after threats made on social media
School Closed today after threats made online
On March 5, 2017 at approximately 9:30 p.m. St. Paul RCMP were notified of a potential threat that was posted on social media directed toward the Ecole Mallaig School, in Mallaig, Alberta.
The RCMP immediately responded to investigate these concerns. St. Paul Education Regional Division were advised of the threat and as a precaution the school was closed today until the investigation was completed.
St. Paul Education Regional Division distributed communication to parents of the school regarding the closure. At no time was any member of the public, school personnel or students at risk as the school was closed.
Charges are currently pending against a youth for Uttering threats and Failing to comply with court conditions in relation to this incident.
As this matter is now before the courts no further information will be made available.
