Women of Influence Nominees Announced
The Grande Parlour Productions set to entertain at event celebrating women
The Cold Lake Women of Influence Awards have announced their list of nominees for the 2017 awards. Committee member, Kayla Vick says the group received the most nominations they have ever had.
“This year we received 31 nominees. This is the most nominees we’ve ever had! It’s a great example of a community building one another up and recognizing women that are making a difference in our community in diverse ways,” says Vick. The awards are presented in four different categories; Arts & Culture, Business & Professional, Community & Volunteerism and Health & Wellness.

There is also an Overall Woman of Influence award that is presented to a woman who has the tenacity, energy and fortitude to seek success for themselves, their employees and their communities. She has demonstrated outstanding leadership both with her company (organization) and her market, set the standards for originality, quality and successful management. She is a mentor, visionary, a leader, a successful woman and in all elements a trailblazer in her field. The Overall Woman of Influence will be selected by the Judging Committee from all of the nominations received.
Vick explains it is an absolutely difficult job on the selection committee to choose the winner of each category, “all nominations are forwarded to a separate selection committee. There is a scoring criteria for each category (Arts & Culture, Business & Professional, Community & Volunteer, Health & Wellness and Overall Woman of Influence). The committee members individually score each nominee. The committee then meets, all scores are collated and an average is taken. The highest average from each category is selected as a recipient of each award.”
Many people will recognize the names on the nominee list and even if you don’t this is a great opportunity to come celebrate the woman who make the city such a fantastic community. Vick explains, “this is our biggest event yet taking place at the Cold Lake Agricultural Society. We’ve got a wine tasting paired with appetizers to begin. Following this, there is a keynote address by local artist Patricia Coulter and our awards ceremony. New to the event this year, we are going to have post-awards entertainment, dessert bar, cash bar and mocktails so that our attendees can mingle and make a night out of the event!”
The main entertainment is being kept underwraps, but what Vick is able to tell the community is that The Grande Parlour Productions is behind it. Tickets to the event are only $25 and available through Lakeland Connect’s fast & convenient ticket shop; through LCN’s secure PayPal checkout. *No PayPal account needed.
This is an event for all genders! It’s Cold Lake’s way of celebrating International Women’s Day and makes for a fun, uplifting, inspiring night. It’s a great way to say to the Women in our community “I appreciate the work that you do” because really, it’s their natural work ethic and passion that make them recognized as women of influence.
